BOC NAIA kicks off seminars on Intensified Smuggling Prevention Techniques

Aligned with the directive of the BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero to intensify border protection, the BOC-NAIA kicks off its ‘2021 Smuggling Prevention Techniques’ seminar series to improve vigilance and knowledge on globally accepted practices for effective border security.

The port started the virtual seminar series last January 19 with the topic: “Profiling and Baggage Search Techniques in Passenger Area” followed by the “Intensified Border Protection Techniques in Warehouses” on January 21. The seminars were attended by more than 100 participants, and the series will continue throughout the year and tackle various topics on border protection.

According to Collector Talusan, the virtual seminar series is part of BOC NAIA’s border protection plans and initiatives to complement its accomplishments in 2020. Furthermore, the efforts last year resulted to the interception and seizure of illegal goods with an estimated aggregate value of Php 1.79 billion.

Starting off this year’s intensified anti-smuggling campaign, the BOC-NAIA with the PDEA and NAIA-IADIGT, successfully arrested claimants of illegal drugs, ecstasy last January 8; and Kush Hi-Grade Marijuana last January 9.

BOC-NAIA ensures its strengthened border security in country’s premier airport, and will continue to support Commissioner Guerrero’s initiatives to protect the public against illegal, restricted, prohibited and dangerous goods.
