Trade facilitation a top agenda of 19th ASW TWG Meeting

Delegates from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) recently convened for a 4-day seminar to discuss technical matters for the establishment of the ASEAN Single Window (ASW) for Trade Facilitation.

The Nineteenth Meeting of the Working Group on Technical Matters for the ASW (19th TWG Meeting), attended by representatives of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand was held in Makati City from May 22 – 25, 2012.

Bureau of Customs MISTG Director Kissinger V. Reyes, head of the ASW TWG Philippine Delegation, believes that ASEAN member states must openly identify the tasks involved in order to adapt to the modern techniques of efficient, harmonized and facilitative clearance systems and processes.

Delegates from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand expressed their appreciation to the Government of the Philippinesfor the warm hospitality extended to them and the excellent arrangements made for the Meeting, as well as the ASEAN Secretariat for the technical and secretariat support.
