Message from the Commissioner

The following years will be crucial defining times for the Philippines as it pushes itself to be a key competitor in the global economy.  The Bureau of Customs holds the pivotal position of the intermediary of the country to global trade and border security.

With the rapidly changing and complex international trade arrangements being established, the emphasis on the importance of a professional, transparent, accountable, efficient and automated Philippine Customs Service serves as a sustained pressure on the Bureau to redefine its mission and strategic objectives to reflect the demands of these changing times.

After intensive self-evaluation coupled with external expert recommendations, the Bureau of Customs is now responding to meet these challenges by enhancing collections, improving customer service, professionalizing personnel and complying with international best practices and standards.

This statement is the blueprint of where we want to be and the roadmap of how to get there.
